Alabama Account Numbers for Tax FIlings

-Alabama Withholding Tax Account Number

  • If you are a new business starting for the first time, you must first register with the Alabama Department of Revenue using their Business Tax Online Registration System in order to obtain an assigned Withholding Tax Account Number.

  • If your business has been assigned a Withholding Tax Account Number, you can find your account number in your filed Form A-1 or A-3, Employer Quarterly or Annual Return of Income Tax or by contacting the agency via phone at 334-242-1584.

-Alabama Unemployment Compensation (UC) Account Number

How to Register as a New Employer in Florida

To obtain a Reemployment Tax Account Number for your business, you are required to first register for an online account with the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR). After you have successfully registered with the agency, you will obtain your seven-digit Reemployment Tax Account Number within 2-3 days by logging back into your account.

Find your Reemployment Tax Account Number and Tax Rate

If you are coming to Fingercheck from a previous payroll provider (or have filed state payroll tax returns in the past), you can locate your Reemployment Tax Account Number on any previously filed quarterly tax form, like the Form RT-6. The Reemployment Tax Account Number is a seven-digit number in the following format: XXXXXXX.

Reemployment Tax Rate

In order for Fingercheck to accurately calculate your Reemployment Tax amount, we require that you provide us with your Reemployment Tax Rate. To locate this:

  • You can look at the Reemployment Tax Rate Notice (Form RT-20) that is sent to all employers by the DOR and your rate can be located there.

Georgia

To be able to fully utilize Fingercheck’s all-in-one payroll services in Georgia, you will need to provide us with your Georgia Withholding Number, Georgia Department of Labor Account Number, and Georgia Employer Total Tax Rate to allow us to properly draft and file your state taxes.

Obtaining Georgia Payroll Account Numbers

Georgia New Employer Registration

  • To obtain your Georgia Withholding Number, you must register for an account with the Georgia Department of Revenue. Once you have completed your registration, you will receive your nine-character Withholding Number.

  • In order obtain a Department of Labor Account Number, you will need to register online with the Georgia Department of Labor. Once you complete the registration process, you will receive your eight-digit Department of Labor Account Number.

  • Note: If your business is a non-profit organization and you are not registered with the Georgia Department of Labor, you cannot register online. Instead, you must do so by mail. Click here to download the Employer Status Report, Form DOL-1N. To contact the agency, you can call 877-423-6711, option 1 (Withholding Number) or 404-232-3180 (Department of Labor Account Number).

Locating your Georgia Account Numbers

  • To locate your Georgia Withholding Number, you can log into your Department of Revenue Tax Center Account via the Georgia Tax Center's website. Your number can also be located on previous filing forms that you should have received from the Department of Revenue. If you are still unable to find it, you can call the Department of Revenue Business Services Unit at 877-423-6711 between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

  • To locate your Department of Labor Account Number, you can refer to any previously filed Quarterly Tax and Wage Report, known also as the Form-DOL 4N. If you are still unable to find it, you can call the Department of Labor via phone at 404-232-3180.

Calculating your Georgia Employer Total Tax Rate

For Fingercheck to accurately withhold the correct amount for this tax, we require that you provide us with your Georgia Employer Total Tax Rate.

-To locate your Total Tax Rate:

  • If you are a new business starting for the first time, you will need to register with the Department of Labor in order to be assigned a Total Tax Rate.

  • You can view your rate online here via the employer portal.

  • Your rate can also be located on the Employer Tax Rate Notice, known also as the Form DOL-626, mailed to every employer in late December.

Additional Information

-The quarterly filing form that you will need to submit in Georgia is based on the frequency of your tax payments. Your frequency is based on your annual payroll totals and when concerning the form, there are three categories of filing frequencies: semi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly. You can determine what your frequency is by referring to the form filed for your business in previous quarters. -As a business owner in Georgia, in the event that you terminate an employee, you must give the terminated employee a completed, signed, and dated Separation Notice. This rule is following the printed instructions on the Form DOL-800.

-If one of your employees claims over 14 withholdings on their Employee Tax Withholding Form, also known as the Form G-4, you are required to then mail a copy of the employee’s Form G-4 to the state of Georgia for approval.


Kentucky

Tennessee

To be able to fully utilize Fingercheck’s all-in-one payroll services in Tennessee, you must provide a valid Tennessee Employer Account Number and your state Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax rate in order to allow us to properly draft and file your state taxes.

Account Registration for New Employers in Tennessee

  • To obtain an Employer Account Number, you can go to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development’s website to see the instructions and links to applications to get an Employer Account Number. The completed application can be mailed or faxed to the Employer Services Unit and will be processed within ten business days. The Employer Account number, as well as your UI Tax Rate, will be mailed to the address provided on the form.

Locate your Tennessee Tax Account ID

  • To find your Employer Account Number, you can look at your previously submitted quarterly wage reports. For more information, contact the Department of Labor & Workforce Development at 615-741-2486.

How to Provide Fingercheck with your Unemployment Insurance Rate

To ensure that Fingercheck accurately withholds the correct amount of taxes for Unemployment Insurance (UI), we ask that you provide us with your Unemployment Insurance Rate when starting payroll with us.

  • When you complete the registration process for a new Employer Account Number, you will also receive your Unemployment Insurance (UI) rate as well.

Registering as a New Employer in Virginia

-Virginia Department of Taxation - withholding tax

  • To register with the Department of Taxation, you will need to first go online to the Virginia Tax Online Services for Businesses portal and register as a new business. Once you’ve completed the registration process, you will receive a Department of Taxation Account Number that will be identical to your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).

-Virginia Employment Commission - Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax

  • By enrolling online via the Virginia Tax Online Services for Businesses portal for the Department of Taxation, you are also registered with the Virginia Employment Commission for State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) taxes. Third Party Authorization:

-Keep your username and password in a safe place. You will need to login again to assign us as your Third Party Administrator (TPA) so we have the ability to file and make tax payments on your behalf.

- Login to your Virginia iFile account, select account type TAX, then select Tax Preparer Maintenance on the middle navigation and assign us as the Tax Preparer using our unique ID of Fingercheck.

How to Locate your Virginia Tax ID Numbers and Rates

-Department of Taxation Account Number

  • Your assigned Account Number will be identical to your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN). There is also a three-digit code that corresponds to your location that must also be added by you to the end of the account number. Alternatively, you can log into the Virginia Department of Taxation (VATAX) Online Services for Businesses to locate your number there as well.

-Employment Commission Account Number

  • By logging into the VATAX Online Services for Businesses portal and viewing your account details, you can see what your assigned Commission Account Number is. -Virginia Employer Tax Rate

  • Through logging into the VATAX Online Services for Businesses portal, you can view your Employer Tax Rate.
