To help organize your payroll and other expenses, you can allocate your employees into jobs in conjunction with cost-center levels, tasks, and other categories (such as locations, positions, and pay groups) in Fingercheck. For example, a construction company might have several job sites, and a job is created for each site. Another type of business might use jobs for different types of positions (such as cashier, greeter, and so on).

Import job sites

If you have many job sites, you can import the list from a spreadsheet.

  1. Log in to your Fingercheck account as an Administrator.

  2. Click the SETUP tab > Company > Jobs.

  3. Click the Import Jobs icon.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, click Download Sample File.

  5. Open the file, and add your jobs to the file.
At a minimum, add the following required information:

    • Code

    • Description

    • JobMapCode (optional)

    • JobAddress (for example, 1000 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, USA)

  6. Return to the Jobs page, and click the Import Jobs icon again.

  7. In the dialog box that appears, click Upload File, and select the file.

  8. Click OK.
The jobs appear in the Jobs list.

Job Fields

An abbreviated name for the job. In combination with the Description field, this makes up the full name of the job as displayed in other areas of Fingercheck.

Important: If your employees will be selecting a job from a time clock, the codes must be numeric. You can enter a question mark (?), and the next available number is entered.

If not using time clocks, you can automatically add alphanumeric codes with up to 5 letters. Enter the letters and the? (for example abc?) and press Enter. The field displays abc1. The next job would be coded abc2.
