If you've worked with the Fingercheck Insurance team to set up Workers Compensation Codes for your company, the next part is knowing how to assign those codes to employees.

When assigning Workers Comp Codes, you have two options, assigning a code to an individual employee, or assigning a code to multiple employees at the same time. Both options are quick and easy to do in Fingercheck, read further to find out how!

Assigning a Workers Comp Code to an Individual Employee

  • From your Fingercheck Dashboard, click Employees on the main menu (the big blue bar on the left side of the screen).
  • On the Employee Roster, click the name or Employee Number of the employee you want to assign.
  • Next, click on Position & Rates.
  • On the Position & Rates screen, scroll down to the Pay Information section. Click the pencil icon at the right side of the screen to unlock the fields in that section for editing.
  • Click on the dropdown list for Workers Comp. Select from the options available the Workers Compensation Code to assign to that employee.
  • Click the blue Save button to confirm.

Assigning a Workers Comp Code to Multiple Employees

  • From your Fingercheck Dashboard, click Employees on the main menu (the big blue bar on the left side of the screen).
  • On the Employee Roster, click the checkbox next to the Employee Number of all employees you want to assign.
    Keep in mind that, depending on the size of your roster, you may want to expand the number of visible employees so you can select every one you need. You can do this by scrolling to the bottom of the page, and set the Page Size option to a higher number.
  • Once all of the employees you need to change are selected, click the Quick Actions button on the toolbar. From the dropdown list, select the Mass Change option.
  • Select WorkersCompCode from the Change Type list.
  • Select the Workers Compensation Code you want to assign to those employees from the Change To list.
  • Click OK. There will be another popup message asking to confirm the mass change. Follow the on-screen prompts until you're done.

What if I want to exclude certain employees from Workers Compensation?

Excluding specific employees from Workers Compensation is also easily done in Fingercheck with just a few simple steps:

  • From your Fingercheck Dashboard, click Employees on the main menu (the big blue bar on the left side of the screen).
  • On the Employee Roster, click the name or Employee Number of the employee you want to assign.
  • Next, click on Position & Rates.
  • On the Position & Rates screen, scroll down to the Pay Information section. Click the pencil icon at the right side of the screen to unlock the fields in that section for editing.
  • Click on the checkbox for "Excluded From Workers Comp"
  • Click the Save button.

Note: Keep in mind, the insurance company reserves the right to audit any excluded employees, to verify their exempt status according to insurance law.
