After you've worked with the Fingercheck Insurance team to set up Workers' Compensation Codes for your company, the next part is knowing how to assign those codes to employees.

Assign a workers comp code to an individual employee

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator.

  2. Click the EMPLOYEES tab, and click the employee's name or number to open their profile.

  3. Under Personal, click Position & Rates.

  4. Scroll down to the Pay Information section, and click the Edit icon (pencil).

  5. From the Workers' Comp drop-down list, select from the options available the Workers Compensation Code to assign to that employee.

  6. Click Save.

Assign a workers comp code to multiple employees

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator.

  2. Select the checkboxes next to the employee number of all employees you want to assign.
Depending on the size of your roster, you may need to expand the number of visible employees to be able to select each employee you need. Set the Page Size option at the bottom of the page to a higher number.

  3. Click the Quick Actions button and select Mass Change.

  4. Select WorkersCompCode from the Change Type list.

  5. Select the Workers' Compensation Code you want to assign to those employees from the Change To list.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Complete the remaining prompts you see on the screen.

Exclude certain employees from workers' compensation

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator.

  2. Click the EMPLOYEES tab, and click the employee's name or number to open their profile.

  3. Under Personal, click Position & Rates.

  4. Scroll down to the Pay Information section, and click the Edit icon (pencil).

  5. Select the Excluded from Workers Comp checkbox.

  6. Click Save.

Note: The insurance company reserves the right to audit any excluded employees, to verify their exempt status according to insurance law.

Users in Wyoming

If your employees reside in Wyoming, complete the following steps after you add a Workers' Comp Code to an employee:

  1. On the employee's profile, click Payroll > Taxes.

  2. Switch to the Employer Taxes tab.

  3. Edit the WYWCER - WY Workers Comp Employer Tax Code and select a Corporate Officer.

This is necessary for all employees who are not exempt from workers' compensation.
