How to Set Up Washington L&I

A guide to setting up Washington L&I in Fingercheck.

Adding Washington L&I (Labor and Industries) to your payroll system is crucial for compliance with state regulations and ensuring that your employees receive the necessary coverage in case of work-related injuries or illnesses. In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to setting up Washington L&I in Fingercheck, and adding it to your employee.


Add an L&I Code

  1. Log in to your Fingercheck account as an Administrator.

  2. In the left hand menu, select SETUP > Payroll > Workers Comp Codes.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter the worker's comp code details:

    1. Code: enter the worker's comp code.

    2. Description: enter the department or employees covered.

    3. Rate: enter the assigned worker's comp code rate.

    4. Withholding Rate: enter the employee’s rate for their portion of the Washington L&I premiums.

    5. Class Code: enter the workers comp class code–this would be the same code entered under the Code field above.

    6. Work Location: Select a work location. (optional)

  5. Click Save.


Assign an L&I Code to an employee

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator.

  2. In the left hand menu, select the EMPLOYEES tab.

  3. Click an employee's name or number to open their profile.

  4. Under Personal, select Position & Rates.

  5. Scroll down to the Pay Information section, and click the Edit icon (pencil).

  6. From the Workers' Comp drop-down list, select from the options available the Workers Compensation Code to assign to that employee.

  7. Click Save.
