How to Setup Notifications for Upcoming Shifts and Missed Punches

Set employee reminders for upcoming shifts, and how to send notifications to supervisors for missed punches.

Setting up notifications to be sent to both employees and supervisors can be completed under the Fingercheck SCHEDULES tab. Notifications are tied to the employee’s schedule. Check out How to Create a Schedule for more details on how to create a schedule in Fingercheck.

Remind employees about upcoming shifts

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator or Supervisor (with scheduling permissions).

  2. Click the SCHEDULE tab.

  3. Click the Bell icon in the upper-right corner to edit Notifications.

  4. In the Notifications Settings pop-up window, complete the options you want to set for the employee Schedule notification.

    • Email: The employee will receive an email at the email address listed in the Employee Profile.

    • SMS: The employee will receive a text message at the phone number listed in the Employee Profile.

    • Push: The employee will receive an alert from the Fingercheck app downloaded on the mobile device.

  5. Click Save.


Send alerts for missed in/out punches

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator or Supervisor (with scheduling permissions).

  2. Click the SCHEDULE tab.

  3. Click the Bell icon in the upper-right corner to edit Notifications.

  4. In the Notifications Settings pop-up window, complete the options you want to set for the supervisor Schedule notification.

    • Supervisor: Check the checkbox to send an alert to the employee's supervisor when they miss a punch in/out.

    • Send Copy to employees: Check the checkbox to send an alert to the employee when they miss a punch in/out.

    • Notify additional email(s): Enter additional email addresses that should receive a email notification of a missed punch in/out.

    • Email: Notification will be sent via email at the email address entered in Finger

    • SMS: Notification will be sent via text message at the phone number listed in the Employee Profile.

    • Push: Notification will be sent via alert from the Fingercheck app downloaded on their mobile device.

  5. Click Save.


Disable notifications to alert supervisors and employees

  1. Log in to Fingercheck as an Administrator or Supervisor (with scheduling permissions).

  2. Click the SCHEDULE tab.

  3. Click the Bell icon in the upper-right corner to edit Notifications.

  4. In the Notifications Settings pop-up window, uncheck the options you want to remove employee and/or supervisor Schedule notifications.

  5. Click Save.
