Employees: Understanding the Schedule Calendar Using the Mobile App

View employee availability, open shifts, shift requests using the Fingercheck app.

Fingercheck’s Schedule feature is designed to enhance your efficiency by providing the flexibility to grab open shifts, request covers, or propose shift trades with team members. This time-saving functionality ensures that managing your schedule becomes a seamless and effortless experience.


Employee schedule calendar

You can easily view the calendar from your employee portal by opening up the navigation menu and selecting Schedule.

The schedule calendar view on the mobile app allows you to:

  • Add your Availability for employers to see

  • See any Open Shifts that have been published and are available to take

  • See any Trade or Cover requests that have been sent or received

  • See any Assigned Shifts that have been assigned to you

Quickly change your date by selecting the calendar icon, or return to the current day by selecting Today.


Add your availability

  1. Log in to your employee portal from the Fingercheck app.

  2. Open the navigation menu by selecting the hamburger menu icon.

  3. Select Schedule.

  4. Select the green hamburger menu icon.

  5. Select Availability.

  6. Select Set Availability.

  7. Select the Plus icon.

  8. Select Add for any day you would like to add your availability.

  9. Enter your availability for that day:

    • Use this screen to let others know you are unavailable to work a shift.

    • Use the Preferred toggle to let others know this is a preferred shift you would like to work.

    • Use the All Day toggle to let others know you are available all day, or enter the start/end times.

  10. Select the checkmark icon.

  11. Select the checkmark icon to save your availability.

  12. Select OK to confirm.

Copy your availability from one day to another day in the same week by selecting the copy icon.


View open shifts and request a shift

  1. Log in to your employee portal from the Fingercheck app.

  2. Open the navigation menu by selecting the hamburger menu icon.

  3. Select Schedule.

  4. Select the green hamburger menu icon.

  5. Select Requests to view open shifts, your requests, team requests for trades and covers.

  6. Select Open Shifts tab to view available shifts for a specific date.

  7. To take a shift, select Take Shift.

  8. Select Yes to confirm you want to take the open shift.

  9. Select OK to confirm your selection.

Your manager will receive a notification that you submitted to take an open shift.

Cancel open shift request

  1. Cancel requests from the Schedule by selecting the green hamburger menu icon.

  2. Select Requests.

  3. Select the Open Shifts tab.

  4. Select the shift.

  5. Select the red Cancel button.


Swap shifts—covers and trades

Requesting coverage

  1. Log in to your employee portal from the Fingercheck app.

  2. Open the navigation menu by selecting the hamburger menu icon.

  3. Select Schedule.

  4. Select Request Cover for a specific day.

  5. Select individuals to submit a request to cover your shift.

  6. Select Next.

  7. Enter a message to include with your cover request, and select Request Cover.

Please note: you are still responsible for working your shift until your manager approves the cover request.

Cancel cover shift request

  1. Cancel requests from the Schedule by selecting the green hamburger menu icon.

  2. Select Requests.

  3. Select the Cover Shifts tab.

  4. Select the shift.

  5. You can cancel an individual from the cover shift request by selecting their name, or cancel all requests by selecting the red Cancel button.

Requesting trades

  1. Log in to your employee portal from the Fingercheck app.

  2. Open the navigation menu by selecting the hamburger menu icon.

  3. Select Schedule.

  4. Select Trade Shift for a specific day.

  5. Select individuals to submit a request to trade shifts.

  6. Select Next.

  7. Enter a message to include with your cover request, and select Request Cover.

  8. Select Request Trade.

Please note: you are still responsible for working your shift until your manager approves the trade request.

Cancel trade shift request

  1. Cancel requests from the Schedule by selecting the green hamburger menu icon.

  2. Select Requests.

  3. Select the Trade Shifts tab.

  4. Select the shift.

  5. You can cancel an individual from the cover shift request by selecting their name, or cancel all requests by selecting the red Cancel button.
