These reports allow you to review worked and scheduled hours for both full-time and part-time employees across custom lookback periods, giving you the data you need to make informed compliance decisions. Each report offers unique insights based on different data sources to help you understand and manage your ACA obligations.

What is ACA reporting?

ACA reporting is part of the Affordable Care Act requiring employers to report medical coverage for their employees.

According to the IRS, employers are required to become compliant and submit an ACA report (forms 1094-C and 1095-C) when they employ at least 50 full-time employees, including full-time equivalent employees (FTE), for more than 120 days during the preceding calendar year. This report is completed annually for the prior calendar year.

For employers to become responsible for ACA reporting in 2023, they would have had to employ an average of 50 full-time employees during 2022. If YOU or Client ID did not have an average of 50 full-time employees during 2022, or prior, then ACA reporting will not be required for 2023.

ACA Detail Reports

Under the ACA, employees averaging 30 hours per week or 130 hours per month are classified as full-time. Employers must track these averages over a 3–12 month Lookback Period to determine final classifications and identify if they meet the criteria of an Applicable Large Employer (ALE).

Example use case: Use this report to review employee classifications at the end of a lookback period and confirm who qualifies as full-time under ACA rules.

These detailed reports display each employee’s ACA-related status, including:

  • Hire date and pay type

  • Total and average hours worked (monthly and weekly)

  • Employee type

  • Final Look-Back ACA Status (full-time or part-time)

ACA Schedule Report

ACA Forecast by Employee (ACASche1)

This report forecasts each employee’s expected ACA status for the upcoming month based on scheduled hours. It includes:

  • Hire date and pay type

  • Monthly and average weekly scheduled hours

  • Employee type

  • Forecasted Look-Back ACA Status

Running this report before a new month begins helps you identify part-time employees who are scheduled to exceed ACA full-time thresholds—allowing you to adjust schedules proactively and maintain compliance.

ACA Summary Reports

These reports determine whether your company qualifies as an Applicable Large Employer (ALE) under ACA regulations. They include:

  • Monthly full-time employee counts

  • Total monthly part-time hours

  • Full-time equivalent (FTE) calculations

  • Combined FT and FTE totals per month

Fingercheck automatically calculates your average monthly FTE count, helping you determine whether you exceed the 50 FTE threshold for ALE classification.

ACA Statement Report

Statement (Stmt)

This summary report consolidates key ACA metrics across all ACA-related reports. It allows you to:

  • Calculate total and averaged FTE counts

  • Confirm ALE status

  • Identify employees whose worked hours classify them as full-time under ACA rules

Using these insights, employers can make informed scheduling and staffing decisions to stay compliant with the ACA Employer Mandate.

Run these reports regularly, especially before and after each lookback period, to monitor compliance and avoid penalties for misclassified employees or incorrect ALE status.
