If you're in the process of running payroll and realize you need to make last-minute adjustments to your employees' Time Cards, you may try to do so and then notice that your numbers in the Payroll process refuse to change along with them.
This is due to the fact that, when running payroll (more specifically, when you begin Step 4 (Payroll Entry) of the Payroll process), time card data is pulled for all employees as of that moment, and so any changes which are made after won't affect it.
In order to properly make time card adjustments and see those changes affect your payroll, there are a couple of ways to go about it.
Changing Time Cards within the Payroll Module
This method is recommended for quick, individual changes to Time Cards.
If you're already in Step 4 (Payroll Entry), use the Previous button at the bottom-right of the page to return to Step 2 (Time Review).
In Step 2 (Time Review), you are able to edit the Time Card of any employee listed.
To do so, simply click on the employee whose Time Card you would like to change (if you can't find them, try using the search bar to search for their name!).
This will open a pop-up window containing that employee's time card, which you can edit by clicking into the data or the empty spaces, just how you would within the normal Time Sheet module.
Changing Time Cards using the Time Sheet
Sometimes, you will need to make more specific data adjustments, such as performing a mass entry for multiple days, punches, employees, etc. Making those kinds of changes is easier to do outside of the Payroll Module.
If you need to make changes that way, but you are already in Step 4 or 5 of the Payroll process, you do not need to back out or Restart Payroll (though that certainly is an option).
Instead, there is a Regenerate Payroll link that you can access from the Payroll Dashboard...
or, you can even click the Refresh Time Card Data button on the toolbar when you're actually on the page for Step 4 (Payroll Entry).
Both of these options will re-pull information from the Time Sheets, once you type YES to confirm your action.
(Keep in mind that doing this will overwrite any manual changes you've made up to this point in Step 4.)
