How to Set up Job Fencing
FingerCheck lets administrators restrict where employees are able to punch in and what jobs they can punch in for. When punch attempts occur outside a specified perimeter, FingerCheck can conveniently alert managers of the incident via punch notification by text, email, and push notification. If you are interested in using FingerCheck's job fencing feature, here is a step-by-step guide outlining the process of setting the necessary components up:
- To receive notifications after your employees punch, you will need to set up an alert policy with a "Punch - Notify After Punch" rule. The next step is to go to "Jobs" by opening the drop down menu on the left and clicking on "Company Menu."
- Then click on "Jobs." Since you're tying specific jobs to specific sites, it makes sense to label your jobs by location. As you can see, we've already labeled our jobs by location. This is to make it easier to filter through various job sites. However, if you've labeled your jobs with different identifiers, that's fine too. Let's click into our third job to walk through the process of assigning a job a location.
- As you can see, the description reads "45 Rockefeller Plaza," which corresponds with the "Location" and "Location IP Address." By "Location," as you start to type, the system will automatically start pulling up suggestions. Once you select an address, the system auto-fills in the Location IP Address. Click "Save" to finish.
- Now it's time to set up a job fencing policy. Navigate to the "Policies Menu" and within the menu, click "Job Fencing Policies." Let's click the yellow "Add" button to walk through the fields you'll need to fill out when making your policy.
- This is the policy window where you will build your policy.
- Let's decode the above. We want a policy that contains our list of different job sites, which is why we titled the policy "List of Job Sites." Next, there are three job fencing types to choose from that dictate how the policy will operate. "Specified GEO Location" restricts punches to a location you specify in the "Location" field box. "Valid Job Site" assigns a job to an employee and they can only punch in at the job site's location. "Specified Job Site" lets the administrator choose which jobs they want available to this policy, so if they make multiple jobs that have multiple locations, as long as employees are within the radius of these sites, they can punch in. Fill in "Location" if necessary and then enter the acceptable perimeter radius in miles in the "Perimeter Radius" field. For "Outside Perimeter Action" decide how punches outside the perimeter are treated - "Accept" (accept the punch), "DoNotAccept" (don't accept the punch), "AcceptAndNotify" (accept the punch but send a notification), and "DoNotAcceptAndNotify" (don't accept the punch and don't trigger a notification). By "Alert Policy" choose the alert policy you created earlier. Finish the policy by clicking the gray "Add" button to set your rules. Select the "Job" that corresponds with the job fencing policy and the "Perimeter Radius." Then hit "Apply." Once you are back in the main window, click "Save."
- Now it's time to navigate to your Master Profiles, where you can select those policies to be applied to the employees contained within their appropriate master profiles. From the drop down menu on the left, select "System Menu" and then click on "Master Profiles."
- Click on the master profile of your choosing.
- Then, by the "Alert Policy" and "Job Fencing Policy" fields, select the appropriate policies from the drop down menu and click "Save." (Make sure this profile applies to the employees you wish to set job fencing up for.)
